I'd wanna talk about Lisa and her friends, as the title of this thread says... Well, most accurately, about Lisa and her lack of friends. Of real friends, at least.
I think all the people that have been following the series, we know pretty well the reasons why Lisa doesn't have too much friends... but often it seems she's got no friends at all. Whenever she finds other kids that are nice to her, and that they like her for what she is, it happens something that causes poor Lisa to be alone again in the next episode. The kids from "Summer of 4 Ft. 2", Juliet... even Alex, although I'm not too sure of what to think about little miss Whitney...
I would say that, at least, Allison Taylor hasn't "disappeared", but she's just a background character now; she hasn't even talked in the last seasons, I believe. And this fact makes me a bit sad and really upset; I think Allison might be a truly great friend for Lisa; both them are very good students, they've got several things in common (c'mon, Allison had a poster of Bleeding Gums Murphy in her bedroom, what else do you need? XD), and Allison sincerely forgave Lisa for sabotaging her diorama.
They wouldn't need to make Allison appear in almost every episode, but they could give her a phrase or two, sometimes... a few nice words to Lisa, showing she's supporting her, some scenes where they can be seen together... they could even work in a science project or something, together Or maybe Lisa could just talk about Allison, from time to time... just to remember they're still friends
Now I might talk about her other friends... but as I said before, I don't think she's got true friends in Springfield... Some people (well, Wikipedia XD) have described Janey as Lisa's "fair-weather friend"; I totally agree with that expression. I couldn't have defined her in a better way; when things go smooth, she's by Lisa's side, but whenever things begin to get ugly for Lisa, she'll betray their "friendship" and will tease her as much as all the others. And for Sherri and Terri, they're a bit like Janey, but usually they don't wait for other people to begin the teasing; they start it themselves.
And for the boys... Well, Milhouse is clearly obsessed with Lisa, although sometimes he does seem to really worry about her, and maybe he might help Lisa if she requires it. Martin is more a rival than a friend, and well... one could think someone like Nelson could never be a friend of someone like Lisa, but sometimes he's nicer to her than her so-called "friends" are.
And at last... Bart. Well, it would take me a whole new thread to explain it... he can be Lisa's worst nightmare or her best friend when she's in deep trouble. But most of the time, he simply ignores Lisa or, in the best of cases, he just acts like a funny but troublesome buddy
I don't know very well how to continue, so I think I'll end by now. I hope someone will reply, cause I find this a very interesting topic
